Neon Lights

This photograph is one of a series that I have done exploring light writing. It is of a carnival ride that was once call the Graviton but is now called Alien Abduction.  I knew I wanted the text in the photo with the light trails moving around it as I felt the composition as a whole would actually create the illusion of a UFO taking off.  Using an ISO of 100, a slow shutter speed of 1/6  and an aperture setting of f8.0 as well as a tripod. I was able to capture both the name of the ride and the light trails left behind by the ride’s movement.  In the resulting photo, the typography is just as important as the light trails themselves, begging the viewer to question the unseen. This photo is featured in the Seen/Unseen art show at  Northern Michigan University.
